Exhibition of Recent History (NOB – National Liberation Struggle)
The permanent exhibition of recent history was set up in 1981. It represents
the time from the first organised appearances of the workers’ movement before
the Second World War and up to the liberation of Novo Mesto on 8 May 1945,
with the predominant emphasis on events during the Second World War in this
part of Slovenia. The exhibition is complemented by albums and a memorial
hall with almost 3,000 names of fallen Partisans, activists and victims of
aggression by the occupation forces in the narrower region of Dolenjska.
The exhibition is set up in one of the rare purpose-built museum buildings
constructed in Slovenia after the Second World War.
