Art Education Collection

The Art Education Collection was created in the second half of the 1980s at the initiative of the artist and art teacher Alenka Gerlovič. The collection, unique in Slovenia, includes over a hundred works by around sixty noted Slovene artists, representing every artistic genre. More than thirty different techniques are represented, from drawing (which, as the foundation of works of art, is further divided in terms of purpose into croquis, sketch, study, expressive drawing, draft as autonomous drawing and draft as an aid to subsequent work), to several genres of painting and printmaking techniques (variants of high, flat, deep, blind and relief printing) and various sculptural techniques that draw attention to the expression of spatial forms through the removal, addition, combination and manipulation of materials. The collection is aimed at a wide circle of art lovers but in particular at schoolchildren and teachers, and is therefore an ideal and enjoyable supplement to the teaching programmes of primary and secondary schools.
